Samantha Jacobsen was 2-½ years old when she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. Diabetes is when the body has trouble regulating blood glucose, or blood sugar levels. Type 1 is also called Juvenile Diabetes or Insulin-Dependent Diabetes, according to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
